I have to report that all is well with Whaley Bridge Cricket Club. The first team are second in the league and looking set for promotion, whilst the seconds have won back to back matches, conceding a total of just 101 runs in the process.
The website is receiving regular contributions, including a popular one from Neil Shaw, and two even more popular replies from Peter Crowley and Elliot Simmonds.
The ground is looking magnificent, thanks to Mr Latham, and there have been a whole host of tea ladies, too numerous to mention. We have a number of players representing High Peak at under 13s and under 15s levels, and we have submitted 22 players for trials with Derbyshire.
So what could possibly go wrong…..
I have no answer to the above question, perhaps one will emerge over the coming days. Anyway, it has been an interesting week for Big Dave, who took one in the mouth and had several stitches on Thursday night. The brave soldier was fit for Saturday, and after playing the shot of the day he proceeded to grab five wickets for four runs in a handsome victory. He has been installed as temporary landlord of The Sheps, and as if one dream coming true was not enough, he has also been given the second team captaincy this weekend. His star is most definitely in the ascendant, so what could possibly go wrong….
