There are many who thought that it would never happen, but yesterday, against Chapel, it finally did. MMM (Manchester), the second team captain, scored his maiden century in the 61 run defeat. The final total of 151 for 7 was satisfactory, but when you consider that the captain scored 114 not out questions must be asked of the rest of the batting line up. The firsts managed a victory on the Chapel ground that had to be dramatically shortened because of flooding. When you flash and edge through slips and it goes for a six you know there’s something wrong, but it was the same for both sides. Well done to Charlie, Slacky and Neil, all of whom managed half centuries, though obviously not as good as my ton on a full sized ground.
There appear to have been no first team explosion yesterday, but it is only Sunday afternoon!
Meanwhile the under 11s recorded another victory, this time at home to Hazel Grove, whilst the nets are currently packed with the under 13s who coach Ed Kitchen believes could win all of their remaining fixtures!
